Where to play
Where to play pickleball in Louisville
Louisville is a great pickleball town. Between Metro Parks, a state park complex, indoor clubs and the courts across the river in Southern Indiana, Matchd's court data counts 100+ places to play within 20 miles of downtown (October 2026). Matchd started here, and this is where we play. Below are the places worth knowing first, how indoor play works when it gets cold, and how to find a game at your level.
The big outdoor courts
E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park (east Louisville). The center of Louisville outdoor pickleball. Kentucky State Parks opened a 16-court outdoor complex here in July 2021, converted from six tennis courts, and at the time it was called the largest pickleball complex in Kentucky. Expect a crowd on nice mornings and evenings. Read our Tom Sawyer spotlight.
Charlie Vettiner Park (southeast Louisville). A Metro park with a big pickleball footprint. Louisville Metro rededicated the park in 2022 after converting old tennis courts into 12 pickleball courts, on top of two courts built earlier.
Fern Creek Park (Fern Creek). Six new pickleball courts and two tennis courts opened here in May 2025, according to the Mayor's office.
Lottie Oglesby Park (Jeffersonville, IN). Just across the Ohio River and worth the drive: Jeffersonville Parks lists 16 outdoor pickleball courts, and its page says they're open until the court lights go off. Read our Lottie Oglesby spotlight.
Smaller neighborhood courts are spread across many other Metro parks, often two to six courts each. Louisville Parks says each park with courts keeps one open for general play.
Indoor and winter play
From about November to March, a lot of Louisville pickleball moves inside.
- Metro community centers. Louisville Parks lists indoor pickleball at the Berrytown, Cyril Allgeier, Douglass, Newburg and Sun Valley community centers, with times that vary by center. Douglass has hosted free beginner lessons.
- Pickleball Euphoria. A dedicated indoor club. Its Springhurst location in east Louisville opened in late 2023, and there's a second location in Clarksville, IN. Check the club for current open play sessions and membership.
- YMCAs and private clubs. Several area YMCAs and racquet clubs run pickleball for members, often weekday mornings and evenings.

Open play, lessons and reservations
Most Metro park courts are first come, first served, usually with a paddle rack at busy parks (here's how open play works). Louisville Parks takes court rentals through its online booking system, and runs lessons and clinics at community centers. Local clubs and Facebook groups organize regular sessions too; ask the regulars at any big court.
Finding a game at your level in Louisville
The courts aren't the hard part in Louisville. The hard part is finding three other people at your level who are free when you are. Matchd shows games around Louisville, ranked by how well each fits your skill, with the skill range on every card. Pick how far you'll go (1 to 25 miles), join an open spot in a tap, or post your own game at Tom Sawyer, Vettiner or your neighborhood court.
